Watch here a great selection images of the founder of contemplative photography, one of the various contemplative arts he founded, Chögyam Trungpa: meditation master, leader, artist and inspirator for so many!
After his flight from Tibet in 1959, upon his arrival via India to England in 1963 and America in 1970, Chögyam Trungpa also took lessons in photography. The medium of photography, which is ever developing into a more modern piece of technology, he quickly and further mastered this. Thereafter the pictures he took can be seen not only as a reflection of this particular time where photography was still growing as an art form under the umbrella of the contemporary arts.
The contemplative approach to photography by Chögyam Trungpa was very unusual and just new for that time. But even more the photos turned out as a reflection of his looking, seeing and deep appreciation for the everyday world, as it is. His images appeared out of realm of western principles and technology and his deep training in eastern philosophy. A melting pot of pure perception, the nature of thing as they are and the creative dimension of spirituality. Joyful and elegant!
